The Story Behind Pro J’s Cycles
Pro J’s Cycles wasn’t created from a business plan or a large storefront. It grew from a genuine love for motorcycles, racing, and helping other riders by Jose Flores. The story began around 2007, when founder Jose Flores was building his own path in motorcycle road racing while working on motorcycles from a home garage in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a racer and hands-on motorcycle technician, Jose spent countless hours learning what motorcycles needed both on the street and under the demanding conditions of the racetrack.
What started with working on his own motorcycles soon grew into helping friends, fellow racers, and local riders. One motorcycle became another, word spread, and riders began trusting Jose with everything from maintenance and repairs to tires and race preparation. There was no big shop yet—just hard work, tools, motorcycles, and a growing reputation.
That passion eventually became Pro J’s Cycles.
As Jose’s customer base continued to grow, so did his vision. In November 2017, he took a major step forward by opening a physical location in Richmond, California, bringing Pro J’s Cycles under the same roof as his muffler and automotive business.
The two businesses gave Jose the opportunity to build something sustainable while continuing to pursue the dream that had driven him from the beginning—motorcycle road racing. Income from the muffler shop helped support the growth of Pro J’s Cycles and fuel his racing dreams, while his years of experience on the racetrack continued to shape the knowledge, service, and passion behind the motorcycle shop.
What began in a home garage had now grown into a Bay Area motorcycle business serving riders throughout Richmond, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Northern California—with racing remaining at the heart of the Pro J’s Cycles story.
But one thing never changed: the connection to racing. While building the business, Jose continued competing in motorcycle road racing. The racetrack became more than a place to compete—it became another classroom. Years of racing provided real-world experience with motorcycle performance, tires, maintenance, preparation, and the importance of paying attention to the smallest details.
That experience continues to influence the way we approach motorcycles today.
In March 2019, Pro J’s Cycles reached another milestone when Jose and Liz Flores purchased the Richmond, California property that became home to Pro J’s Cycles and MGR Mufflers & Auto Repair, Inc.
Today, Pro J’s Cycles is a family-owned motorcycle shop in the San Francisco Bay Area, specializing in motorcycle repair and maintenance, motorcycle tire installation, street and race tires, parts, trackside tire service, and race support.
Our experience goes beyond the shop. For more than a decade, we’ve supported riders at the racetrack, bringing real-world knowledge from racing, track days, tire testing, and motorcycle preparation back to our customers.
Racing continues through Team Pro J’s Racing and Jose Flores #129, connecting the shop to the sport that inspired it from the beginning.
From a home garage to a trusted Richmond motorcycle shop and trackside business, our mission remains simple: “take care of riders, provide quality work, share our knowledge, and never lose our passion for motorcycles.”
